What is Logos Retreats?
Our academic retreats for 16-19 year olds exist to provide a space for sustained critical engagement with the ideas that have shaped, and continue to shape, the world we live in. In summer 2026, we are launching two academic retreats for 16-19 year olds who are interested in broadening and deepening their understanding of the art, history, culture, politics and society they have inherited.
In a time where sophisticated algorithms on social media, AI, and questionable sources of news are all vying for our attention, space for deep thought and reflection is at a premium. Logos Retreats has been founded with this concern in mind.

“We have created Logos Retreats to provide a space for deep critical engagement with the big ideas that have shaped the world as it exists today. Modern technology may lead to great advances, but the need for human deliberation and decision-making have rarely been more sorely needed than they are now”
Adam Atkins, Founder and Director
Find inspiration, explore big ideas
Our Classical and Political Thought retreats in 2026, will create space for our students to interrogate some of the big ideas that have been thought of as fundamental for much of the art, culture, philosophy and politics of today.
All of our tutors are research-active, subject experts currently teaching in leading UK universities. Our retreats are designed and overseen by our director and founder Adam, who has decades of experience as a teacher and educational leader in the UK, and who shares with our tutors a fascination with the big ideas that shape our societies, politics and cultures. Adam has taught and led in the state and independent sectors in the UK, from Years 5-13. He has postgraduate qualifications in education and education policy, an MA in Classics and Ancient History, and is currently completing a PhD, and teaching in the classics and politics departments at a leading UK university.

Classical Thought Retreat
Our Classical Thought retreat will engage with ancient authors and thinkers and involve both sustained individual reflection and engagement, as well as discussion and debate with peers and tutors. We will challenge students to engage with the ideas that have survived to us from antiquity critically, and to consider the extent we can or should think of these ideas as relevant and important in the 21st century.

Political Thought Retreat
On our Political Thought retreat, students will study texts and ideas that have shaped recent historical and modern politics and society. We will engage with these ideas individually and in groups, and apply them to historical, modern and future social and political scenarios, both real and imagined.
